The Hampden County Improvement League supports agriculture, 4‑H and education initiatives in Hampden County, making the community a better place to live, work and play.
The HCIL provides scholarships to students, grants for agricultural organizations and bringing agriculture to the classroom.
Our history is as vibrant and diverse as the fertile soil beneath our feet.
The Hampden County Improvement League was founded on January 25, 1913.
Co-foundersHorace Moses,owner of Woronoco Paper Company, andJohn A. Scheuerle, of Hartford, Vermont, built the league with the assistance of representatives from each town within Hampden County.
Together, they set to work bringing new, innovative programs to the community.
